I just dropped in my motor, and I have a set of 6901 hooker headers. For starters, they are hitting the steering arm, the bolts for the idler arm are hitting the passenger side tubes (I have manual steering), and the tubes also hit the strut towers...:mad::mad: anybody have a suggestion???

Do you have power steering? If so you need the drop bracket. I have the 6901's in mine and they don't hit at all. I don't have p.s.

Turn the bolts around on the Idler arm bracket. On my Falcon I used a 3/8" spacer made from flat stock between the block and motor mounts to lift the engine in the bay. Be sure to use longer bolts if you go with a spacer

    Do the headers bolt up?
What motor mounts do you have?
What side are you having trouble with the shock towers?

These motor mounts will help you out alot because they allow you to move the motor around where it suits you...

I have had alot of experience with these and they are bad a$$!

Call Matt and ask him if they fit the Mav. IIRC, the last time I talked to him, they do.

If none if this works, let me know, and I will get you some headers that will work. (y)

+1. I hated the Hookers in my car. They fit terrible.

Same headers here, I had a couple of different problems, left side collector wouldn't clear the bracing that the trans mount bolts to. Also had a problem with the left side wanting to share the same space with part of the steering box, that wasnt too bad, but I had to relocate one of the primary tubes because of where the clutch cable goes through the scatter shield/motor plate.

But scratch your head, have a cold one, and best of luck to you.:drink:

    I have a factory 302 car with p/s and C4 a/t.
As stated, a drop down bracket is needed for
p/s-but you say that yours is manual.

Mine fit perfectly. I did make on dimple for the idler arm
on the passenger side, nothing huge. All else fits perfectly.

    :hmmm:

When I had 6901's in my Car ... they fit perfect ... and I even had a manual tranny z-bar to contend with ...
