I was able to find a gas tank, and straps for the gas tank for my '74 Mav.. using a tank from a 76-77 from Advance Auto Parts. But I need sending units for it.. where can you get them? Advance doesn't carry them... That is so stupid that you can get a gas tank, and straps.. .but can't get sending units.. go figure. Help! :D

    Thanks,
    Jason

AutoKrafters carries the sending units. They sell for $59.95. Thier website is www.autokrafters.com and the phone number is 1-800-228-7346.

The Ford dealer does NOT carry it. It's discontinued.

I got mine from a junk-yard for 2 dollars. That was 12 years ago and it's been working great ever since...

Um... ok then.. so no one manufactures them at all anymore? All I can do is get a used one? That's really dumb... cause why would they make the tank and the straps.. but not the sending units? Weird... I dunno... junk yards here I come! Thanks alot you guys. I'll keep looking.

Ok I am confused . . . it looks like you can buy the sending units for 70' thru 75' Maverick and Comets only from AutoKrafters for 59.95, but you can't buy the 76'-77' sending units. I am I understanding this correctly?

Thanks Frank, it just seems so surprising that the later model sending units aren't being manufactored. Just a little hard to believe at first glance, because you kind of expect it to be the other way around.

Thanks again for the clarification! :bananaman

Yep I got it from Advance, it was like $200... not cheap. It's alot lighter than the old tank too. I'll have to check with the Car Quest up here for that sending unit. Maybe they have it. Thanks alot everyone for your input.. more input would be appreciated of course :p
