Hello, I guess I'm the new guy in on the madness! Here's the car: 69 1/2 Ford Maverick 200 ci 6 cyl <12,000 miles since rebuild Gold w/ black striping Factory AC (Non-functioning) Fairmont bucket seats (new upholstering) "Soft" interior is all new No rust Pics will be up ASAP. She made California in 3 days with no problems. Here's the driver: I'm Brian, I grew up around Mavericks and always liked them. When I was 15 I chose to rebuild one instead of buying a [functional] car. The car has sat for a long time and I'm finding all the little surprises from that; I hope you guys have spare parts! I grew up riding in a 73 green Mav, and went through my first accident in it. I learned on a 72 purple & rust Mav, but it was always a runner. I gave up the cool car for a project car. From the outside looking in she looks beautiful; but I can't wait for the day 1969 looks only a day away. My goal is to make the car I think should have rolled off the line in 1969... We'll see what happens! I hope to get acquainted with everyone, Brian Van Egmond
Welcome aboard Brian! :Handshake Oh yeah...we got a newletter named after you...or is you named after our newsletter??? Oh well...glad to have you here.
James, I apologize, it's a digital camera ordeal... It'll get there and I'll try not to disappoint! Ray, I thought "Short Horns" is what it is; maybe, it started with the newsletter?
Eh... seats. I apologize for not having pics up yet... I will try not to disappoint when they're up! G/F went out of town... with the camera; but hey, she can't tell me no about the car stuff for a month. Pretty even trade off in the end, I think. Anyway, does anyone have a Maverick bench seat and/or know a central coast upholstery guy? I am also willing to trade front/back seats to make a matching set. Fairmont buckets are on home-made brackets that I cannot replace (no welder.) They are strong enough, but looks aren't there. The car had sat on and off for 7 years following restoration's start, which gave them a nice "grandma's house" smell. There is also one area that the vinyl has something going on with it... it's not a hole, doubt it will get worse, it looks melted... the entire effected are is quarter size or smaller. Faux brown leather vynil with lighter gray/brown cloth on seating areas. These seats have a non-adjustable headrest with squarish through hole... these look good in the Maverick; but I do not have a console and I prefer a bench. What I'm looking for: Excellent condition brown or black front bench and rear seats for an even trade, and I'll deliver (drive my Mav there, remove seats and install new seats.) OR The more preferred way: All hardware pieces and parts of bench are in tact but in need of reupholstering plus cash... Or just a little bit of cash (your choice.)
