I have never been crazy about where Ford decided to mount the side mirrors, but I noticed something tonight. I was out looking at my 69.5' and I noticed the mirror to be in different location than the 72'. I ended up looking at all 4 Mavericks, and I noticed the 69.5' and the 70' Grabber even though they have different typed of mirrors on the cars, they are mounted in about the same location as each other (closer to the front of the door). The 72' and 74' mirrors were mounted in about the same position as each other, but much further back than the 69.5' and 70'. Just curious, has anyone noticed a pattern on where Ford decided to mount the side mirrors? Did it just depend on who was working on the assembly line that day, or was there a year to year difference?
That was one of the first changes I made, move the dam things forward. I felt like if I had a big nose I could scrape it on them.
I noticed that as well. I hate where the mirrors are on my 76 Comet. I don't even use the side mirrors because I'd have to sit in the back seat to see anything.
I like where their at on my '74 Grabber, they are in just the right spot. I have my seat kinda far back though.
I don't think I would have ever noticed that. How big of a difference is it? Are we talking 1/2 inch or like 4 inches.
I would have to measure it, but by eyeballing it I would say at least 4 inches difference. When comparing them, it's very noticeable. That's why I wondered if anyone else had noticed a difference in the early model year Mavericks vs. the later model year Mavericks, or did it just depend on who was mounting them on the doors that day? of at that plant?
I've never had a problem with the location of the dual sport mirrors. I don't know how relocating them would be any kind of improvment...
The sport mirrors on my '72 were in a horrible spot, way to far back to be useful. I had the mirrors moved as far forward as possible when I had Jean and Dale working on the car...
I purchased a cheep set of sport mirrors at pep boys for 2995 they were the kinds that you had to move the whole head and would not sty in place so I took them apart and mounted the head solid to the base I used the swivel part to hold the glass used hot glue works great I made a part to fit inside the head and mounted the swivel to that now I can move the glass and the head dont move
