The Autolite inline did have some inherent problems. Mainly that it likes to be held wide open. Additionally there is no transition idle circuit, so it does stumble from the off to on the gas transition. This was constantly complained about by Parnelli & Follmer in the Trans Am cars during the test sessions. It was bad enough, that it would upset the cars handling in the corners & that can be scary at a 120 mph. So, even though that carb showed better horsepower on the dyno, lap times were actually slower. The 1400 cfm version was really bad. With all that being said, I ran this setup on my last Boss 302 & when tuned right, the problem was very small & very tolerable. Sold the Maverick today...10K
Hate to bring up an old post, but does anyone know if this guy would be intrested in a Orange 70' Boss 429, or how to get in touch with him? I'll have the pleasure of getting it running and driving again. Also going to help my cousin get a black and silver Boss 351 back on the road for his first car, it'll be a busy summer.
the inline carb set up called a Cross Boss? I had that set up years ago on a shelby that when I received it already had a Boss 302 motor in it. I sold the Cross Boss set up around 1980 I reckon with both Carbs small and large (don't remember CFM) and a bunch of jets for it.
That was an old post, over a year ago. He had that car for sale due to a pending marriage. I don't know if he sold it or not. Seth
Jamie, am I reading this right? You know of a Boss 429 car for sale? I own a 70 Boss 302 Mustang and would love to add a 429 car to my stable...along with my Mavs of course.
