It is a 69.5 that has sat in a field since 1980. I know it is a POS now, but I really want to bring her back to life. I have already gotten a used motor out of a 65 Comet with 60K original miles, and it is as clean as it can be. I have a deal in the works for all the body panels I need. I have new tires and brakes to put on it. It is not as bad as the pictures show. Give me a couple years and it will be really nice. I am going with close to stock and keeping the 200 - 6 cylinder for economy. Wish me luck. It'll be fun. I love this stuff.
looks like a good start. It is not so bad my car was pretty bad to and the work will go fast once you get into it
Nice to see another barn find... or "field find" I guess... being saved. Nothin' a wash, wax and some chrome polish can't fix... heh... ok, maybe a little touch up paint too. Have fun with it! Whisky
Projects are fun. Mold your masterpiece your way. You know, you gotta have a dream to make a dream come true. Jim
Looks like a pretty good car to build. Be sure to get it in the air and check out your frame rails and torque boxes real good to make sure you don't have any serious cancer under there. Cars left in fields for long periods of time are prone to that. I'm sure a lot of it depends on the climate though so you may be okay. Good luck with your car and keep the pics coming.
I have gotten under it and really looked at it. The only rust underneath is right inside of the rockers on the curve of the floorpan where it goes from verticle to flat. Not much at all.
Oh boy... I'm hoping to look at a Comet GT next few days... apparently it's very rusty. Just a shell... Does anyone know if torque boxes can be replaced... is it a huge deal?... I remember seeing a post here somewhere about them being available again. Same with fenders...? I'd like another project... just not sure how BAD a car has to be before you throw in the towel and haul it off to the crusher. Whisky... wanting another car in my stable...
