Last year I met some people at a work event and got to talking about my 1972 Maverick Grabber restoration and one of them asked if he could use it in a movie they were shooting in Jacksonville. I didn't think much of it until I sent in the pictures and they lined up the date for shooting the scene. Unfortunately, I had a work event so my wife got to take the car from Tampa to Jacksonville. Finally, almost a year later, I am hearing the movie has been sold and should be in theaters this October. As it stands now, the title is "The Year of Getting to Know Us" but it's already changed a couple times. My car is in a "period scene" from the 70's and it's driving behind Tom Arnold's late 60's Lincoln Continental. You would see my car as if you were looking into Tom's car through the front windshield. I won't know until the movie comes out if the scenes will actually be used, but we're hoping for the best! In total, if they are used, it will probably only be a few seconds of footage, but if you see it, it is mine! The movie also stars Jimmy Fallon, Lucy Liu, Sharon Stone and Illeana Douglas. Keep your eyes out for it!
I'm not crazy for movies but in this case I want to see this movie's biggest star! his name? The GRABBER!!!!
Congrats! Being right behind the main vehicle, the odds are pretty good your car will be seen. I have been in several movies and the reality is that they usually shoot 8 hours of film to get a 2 hour flick. That means that 3/4s of it ends up on the cutting room floor. It is frequently like a bad parlor game to find yourself or car in the final product, given different camera angles, etc. If you make it in, you have beaten the odds ... 1 in 4. The good news ... you can get a DVD when it comes out. You have the scenes that you are in for all time, and you often can find additional stuff in deleted scenes ... like some of my "best work" Looking forward to seeing the film.
Hey Superlead...I would take this compliment with a grain of salt. I got pics of Nick kissing a goat from a couple years ago...and I'm not talking about a GTO.
Ray, you loose to me at the drags and you can't get over it!!! Please let it go and move on. I wish you could make it to the Roundup this year so I could rub it in some more.
