I ask this because I'm looking to see if there is anything available to give my hood a locking mechanism or something to protect it from being broken into. I seriously doubt anyone around my block would be smart enough to know that all you have to do is find the button underneath the hood to open it up without having access to any dash buttons. But it's just still a concern for me.

I once made a bracket that used the bolts for the hood latch, with a chain through it. The chain hung down to a loop placed on the radiator support. It just barely was long enough. Then I had a padlock keeping the chain at the rad support.
If the hood was unlatched while the chain was still in place, the hood would not raise at all.

I am sure if someone was desperate enough, and had enough time, they could pry your hood until it bent or something gave...

You won't find a perfect system to keep desperate thieves out. Just the 'honest' thieves, or paranoid thieves will be detered.

:DIf y'all weren't blessed with gun control up there, you'd have no problem with theft.;)

Here in Florida we got the "Castle Law" extended into our yards!

All we need is to "feel threatened" inside our "property lines"!

F' with my car and I will feel threatened and you will succumb to lead poisoning!

:DY'all heard Joe Horn's story ?:D (Houston Tx area) Two illegal Mexicans were looting his neighbor's house, he calls 911, informs the operator to send help, help is slow in coming. Operator tells him not to get involved or take action. He goes out to stop em in their getaway, they turn on him, he kills both with a shotgun. Grand Jury refused to indict him. :thumbs2: :thumbs2:

I would be looking to replace that proscutor! That use of deadly force to stop a felony in progress has never been a crime.

Locking hood oins DO NOT WORK! I had a 1969 Z28 (sorry fellas, and gals) that was facotory complete save the hood pins. Someone pried them off, quite easily it seemed, and walked with my 1969 finned aluminum valve covers. A very expensive lesson!

The 'castle law' and 'carry rights' are the norm in Dixie, but it looks like yankees might be getting some 2nd Amendment rights finally! The Supreme Court finally set some precidence.(y)

Yea, they did, but you've still got to remember that those Yankee Politicians and Judges carry on as if they're above the law. You can bet they're not about to give up on gun control. I got stopped in south Texas night before last. Kenedy county. There's only one highway thru it. And two deputys looking for druggies. He asked me if I had any "illegal" weapons or guns. I told him no. My gun is legal.:D:biglaugh::thumbs2:
