I know what pinion angle AND driveshaft angle do to 60' times, but I'm not going to post what is best because it always starts a pissing contest. BTW there is a big difference betwen driveshaft angle and pinion angle. They are measured differently.
Go ahead and post.....I want to compare numbers or just PM me. and you are correct about the different angles
I've always heard that too, the angle in degrees should be the same on both ends to cancel out vibrations. Not sure how that would affect a race only car, but it sounds right for a street car....
Drag racing is an exercise in dynamic tuning. You would want to attempt to bring the angles into alignment under full power. I would think that it would require the pinion angle to be slightly more at rest but that would depend on the deflection in your suspension and the amount of rotation that would occur as the axle wanted to wrap. With a four link or Long (ladder) bars the wrap would be less but there is still the deflection which could be severe. I don't know a lot about drag racing and I freely admit it but I'm not completely uneducated either.
Well, I driving by the seat of my pants, so I need all the help I can get. The only engineering degree I have is how to drive a train. LOL.
Jerry, I searched threads here. I went 2.5 degrees with pinion angle. My car is a street car that only gets drag strip action at most once a year, sometimes twice a year. Very smooth in every aspect of driving with no vibrations to be felt at any driving speeds. I agree totally with Daydreamer and his humble opinion of pinion angle degree. That should certainly put you in a safe zone. Dan
