GS...I'm a little happy for you, even envious, while also a little disappointed. I'm happy to see you get what you want. (Seems like I have so many [5-71 Grabbers] that I can't get anything accomplished that I really want) I'm envious because I'm sure your Boss 302 is probably in much better condition than mine. I have a 70 Boss 302 completely disassembled for 11 years now. (I was gung ho for the first 6 months and then the kids put a halt to that project...maybe one day I'll get back on it) Then the part where I'm disappointed in you is simply because I think you should have kept them both and be miserable like me and not know what to do with them or where to put them and so on. Seriously, I wish you well with your new venture and I too would like to see some pictures of the Boss as soon as you can get some. And we fully expect you to frequent this board even if you don't presently own a Maverick because we know you'll be back. Enjoy...Ray
GS, keep us posted on the prgress of your boss. I have a 69 Fastback that is a project as well, it will make interesting reading. And don't storke that 302, just buy a cleveland if you get a jones for torque.....
Thanks to everyone. This is truely a quality Board with a great group of people. First let me say that I do want to do another Maverick project some day. These are truely sleeper cars, but the word is getting out! 2 years ago that yellow Grabber wouldn't have brought a dime over $4500. I would have liked to have kept both cars, but space just flat out won't permit it. I've already got a 66 Shelby, 67 Mustang, 69 Cyclone Spoiler II, 89 5.0 LX Mustang Vert, 85 Mustang GT Vert, 98 F-150, a car trailer & now this Boss 302. I did document the EFI conversion process on the car & I would gladly help anyone here that wants to perform that conversion. There are additional inherent problems with this conversion that are not associated with the Mustang conversion. It was a very fun project. The reason my Maverick sold so fast was, there was a guy who saw the car 6 months ago & he gave me his contact #s & told me if I ever wanted to sell the car, please let him have first shot at it. I emailed him Friday & told him the car is for sale. He emailed me on Monday & said he would fly out & pickup the car on Thursday(yesterday). So, I never advertised the car or had to go thru that dreaded ebay process. I'll pop my head in here now & then to keep up with the goings ons...
I am doing the very same conversion for efi to my maverick, the engine is an 88 5.0 coming out of the parts car this Sunday. Did you document it all on paper or a site?? I would love to have that info to read over all at once! I have a good rough idea of what has to be done, but I am sure I will be encountering a million obstacles.
I have photo documentation, plus the write up I did for Mustang & Fords magazine. I can send you pics, but you'll have clear out your email box & you will probably need extra storage capacity, or take a few at a time each day. Sending you the write up is no problem. I can aslo walk you thru the process of each stage. Believe it or not, I still have a memory...lol
Hey GS,, just cause you dont own a mav doesnt mean you cant hang out here. I do believe this board is for Maverick/Comet enthusiasts. We all fit under that heading. Your just between mavericks right now. Dan
Hi GS, I hope you still hang around here sometime and keep us updated on the Boss. Hopefully, you'll find another Mav sometime in the future. About that tech article, I was wondering if there was any way it could be put on a website to save you the work and time of sending it to email addresses. I still have a crappy internet connection (out in the boonies ), and because of that I won't ask you to send me a copy of the pics because they would take days for it to download on my computer. Just an idea on the website thing...I wonder if anyone has some extra space they could lend you for it if interested. EFI is the goal for my next project - just have to find it first.... -Corbin
GS, I am planning on doing the EFI conversion starting towards the end of the summer. What are the additional inherent problems??? I am really interested in any advice and guidance you can give me as i am only 17 and have never tackled a task this big yet. Thanks Todd
gs, Do you know how to FTP files? I have done two Maverick EFI conversions(first one in '92 and last year on my '72 Grabber), but I have not kept a good photographic record. I would love to put an article up on my web site (www.maverickcomet.com). If you were willing to do it, I can have you FTP the files to my server instead of emailing them and put an article about this out there...It really is a cool project once ya get past all those obsticles... Just a thought...let me know....
Actually, I just upgraded to an sbc dsl account to help with my business. Right now I have 75 megs available in my email. I also have a yahoo briefcase with 260 megs, so I could put a lot of stuff there for others to view. V8only@yahoo.com If it is convienant for you, I would LOVE to see what you have, and I would of course share it. You are a wealth of knoweledge, and I would love to learn what you have to offer. I do hope you continue to see you around here from time to time, Thanks for your help, Jeremy
I can accept large e-mails (17 megs is my record so far) or I can setup FTP for you as well. You also could make several posts in the usefull topics fourm. Send me a PM if you would like to do this. Thanks
I'd like to get the EFI conversion information too. If someone could post it on their website, that would be the best way to do it. I do have some webspace to do it, and a fast connection, I'm just not sure how much space I have for my website. If we were talking about a bunch of high quality pictures, I'd have to double check to see if my site could handle it.
Give me a few of days to put it together in an orderly fashion & I'll get it to you guys...Can all of you get together & figure out the best way for me to only have to do it one time, yet everyone will have access to it?
