I don't know if this is a common problem, but my passenger side sport mirror is "floppy." I can put it where I want it, then the first time someone closes that door it's all over the place again. Sometimes just idling at a light it will move around. It's especially fun when I'm stopped at night and a truck or SUV is behind me. The light in that mirror just strobes right in my face. Hooray for solid motor mounts!

So has anybody else had that problem or am I just special? What can I do about it?

    Thanks!

Yeah, It's a common problem. Mine does the same thing. I removed the screws that 71 Gold is talking about and put some red lock tight on them.

Well this is interesting. I only have one screw. I pushed the mirror over to the left, took the screw out, and the mirror assembly came out of the housing. That screw doesn't seem to be an adjustment of any kind, just for mounting.

When I took the assembly out, I found there's a ball-and-socket type pivot with no apparent means of adjusting it. There are two pegs cast into the mirror panel on either side of the pivot. These go into oblong sockets on the other side, lined by a nylon bushing. Those bushings were worn on one side, so I flipped them and that seems to have cured it.

But I guess this means my mirror must not be original, unless there are variants out there. Don't know, it looks just like every pic I can find in the gallery.

Sometimes its not the screws coming loose that causes the problem, it is the ball socket pivot point behind the mirror. I have taken mirror assembly out and cleaned up ball and applied some jb weld to build up surface, not too much. Works but tedious to do.
