my dad drives the mav to work and he was at the gas staion and the guy next to him said his brother has a maverick that he's filling with scrap metal and he's gonna take it in to be melted down for scrap money. the guy didn't know much about it but gave us the guys phone number and said that its got some sorta special hood(guessing he means Grabber):bouncy:

i'm hoping its a grabber car, not sure what year but hoping for it to have the spoiler too.

what should i especially be looking for besides the hood and spoiler? everything should be really cheap!:yup::bananaman:2thumbs:

i agree with Pete.... if it's not too bad, offer him scrap price for it the way it sits :)

but as for parts, check for sport mirrors, V8 stuff, buckets, floor shift column, etc, etc,...

    I've had a few
The 3rd and 4th numbers in the VIN will be 93 if it's a real Grabber, no matter the year (unless it's a '70 Grabber). 91 if it's just a standard 2 door Maverick.

The first number tells the year. So if the VIN starts with a 1, then it's a '71.

The second letter tells the plant it was built at, K for Kansas City, X for St. Thomas, W for Wayne, Michigan, F for Dearborn.

    The fifth letter tells the engine. F for 302, L for 250 I6, T for 200 I6, and U for 170 I6.

So if the car's VIN starts with 1K93F, you know it's a '71 Maverick, built at Kansas City, Grabber, that came with a 302. 2X91T would be a '72 Maverick, built at St. Thomas, 2 door NON Grabber, with a 200 I6. You get the idea.

Might as well get the throttle cable assembly if it's a V8...small bumpers and brackets if it got them
