ok, the time is getting close. i've finished the major body work on my '71 and am nearing the paint stage. after repairing a crushed in roof, drivers door, left rear quarter, remove rust in passenger quarter, fixed around 200 dents and high spots, it's almost time to lay down some paint. my problem if you will...... i can't decide what color and scheme i want on the car. here's where all of you come in. i visit this site a few times every day and have looked at all the pictures in the gallery and can see the majority of you have very good taste when it comes to these Mavericks. what i need now is an idea. something original. something tasteful. i've had a few ideas for paint jobs over the last few weeks but, after a day or so they don't seem as exciting as they first did. so, here i am asking for your help on this project. the car will be a kind of flagship for my new business wich will be building and restoring classic cars. it's been a dream of mine since i was a kid and now that i have a big enough shop, i want to get the ball rolling. so, please, if anyone here has an idea for a kick a$$ paint job, throw out your ideas here in photoshop format, drawing, or just a good explination and i will let all of you decide wich is the best and put that one on this car. i've been checking out the other threads with ideas and like a couple of them. (trying not to sound cocky or arogant here is the hard part...) the winner of the best idea will get full credit for the design by having their name by way of a vinyl sticker displayed however they choose in the back window alongside my business name wich is Gas Works. the car is still around 4 weeks out from being ready for the spray and most likely won't make the local show circuit this year but will be finished and ready for next spring. thanks to all. -V
Looks awesome!! Just don't paint it blue!!! Too many Blue Mavericks. Paint it this color, but without the lemans stripes.
do you have wheels picked out yet? For me, the style of wheel would be factored in on the paint colors and scheme. Or will you let the paint decide the wheels?
Man, that is some VERY nice work!!! I am so jealous, I cannot do bodywork if my life depended on it. I would love to be able to watch someone and maybe learn along side them. I always liked this car, and especially liked the green shade under the front of the flame. I talked to Rudy at one of the roundups years ago, and he mentioned that it was 1974 Cadillac- limefiremist metallic. The paint number is 42823AM. His name is Rudy Bidlack, user name Bulhead on the forum.
I'm really into white, bright shiny white! Not sure if your going to letter car or not, but a nice white lets you "study" the car seeing the clean lines and character of the car! Nice smooth lines, clean shiny white paint, good hand lettering of your business, heck I may even drive out from Pa to give you my business! Good Luck!
i'm working on a drawing and its the mav in your avatar but i made it yellow and black, when i paint my car it will be blue
