I need a fuel tank for a 1970 Maverick? Will a Mustang work?

Welcome aboard all you new guys needing gas tanks! :)

There is not a true direct replacement for the 71-73's yet but you can use a 74-77 tank as long as you get the straps and fuel sending unit to match. The tank is bigger so it will push on the rear valance slightly but there are a few guys using them. I believe AutoKrafters and maybe RPS sells the 74-77 tanks. Do a search and you will find lots of info on this.

A Mustang tank will work with some modifications. Dennis Martin (Mavaholic) has a technical article on here explaining the process.

If the 70 tank is a drop in (tank is part of truck floor) then there is nothing presently available that I am aware of.
