well i got tired of trying to find a good shop to do my 4-link so i went and ordered the caltracs split mono leaf spring kit caltracs traction bars and the cal tracs 90/10 front shocks with rancho 9000 rears lets hope it hooks like i'm hoping i've herad nothing but the best about cal tracs
i just hope it all works out i'm going to be running a 8 inch slick along with all that so i'm really hoping for atlease 1.4 60 foot i would love like a 1.3 but i think that's a long shot but hey a guy can dream lol
there are many different ways. i plan on welding a bar from frame rail to frame rail that crosses where the mounts go. then mount the shocks to the bar.
The p.o. on my 76 had run air shocks and they blew right through the floor. I used 1.5" square tube, 1/8" wall and some metal plates to build a brace that bolted between the frame rails. I welded the new shock mounts to it and installed new shocks.
Why would that happen? Unless they were rusted out, maybe (mine are in excellent shape). They don't support any of the car's weight, and only get the "push-pull" effect of the shock absorber. Seriously, have these ripped out on any pristine, unrusted cars? Russ
i have not riped mine becasue i have not used air shocks and also have not seriously drag raced yet. A friend of mine that has a mave riped his out first time he put slicks on the car. lots of stories of air shocks riping out on this board. No mention of rust ever being a factor. So i will reenforce my shock mounts before i put slicks on my car.
