Has anyone used the dash covers that they sell? How are they? Can you tell that it is a cover and not a new dash pad? I see dash pads are rare and costly. If I use a dash cover will it look okay? Do Mavericks and Comets use the same pad? Just trying to figure out what to do with my dash pad that is toast.

    Thanks,
    William

I have seen good looking covers and I have seen bad looking covers, mostly bad. I think it's the instalation and what's left that helps with the finished look.

Are the covers glued in place?

Yes they can be glued.. a small wiggly bead of w/shield urethane does a nice job. Of course they look and work better if you install them with the dash out of the car, although they can be done with the dash in place.

I have one on my 70. Looks okay but if I was going to leave it there for good I'd glue it in. It comes with the glue and instructions.:)

As stated, unless you know it's a cover it's very difficult to tell. They have the same texture as the original dash. I've had covers on these cars for several years and I don't glue mine down. They snap right on over the old cover with no problems...takes about 3 seconds. I have heard that some of the guys that glued them down had some problems after a while mostly due from heat. If they are glued they won't expand and contract very well and may show warpage. Don't glue it and you never have a problem. It's not going to go anywhere.

    I have one, fits good.
The untrained eyeball would never know it was a cover.

i have mine. they sent silicone to glue it on. the silicone allows for expansion. its only been a year but no signs for warpage or distortion. it looks stock. i would highly reocmend it to anybody
