I have Grundy also. No mileage limits, but you must have another vehicle insured for a daily driver. The website says you must keep it in a locked garage, but I don't see it written anywhere in my policy.
I have had Hagerty for at least 6 years now and they have never asked for milage on any of my cars. Not even when I signed up. I tried Grundy at first and got a bunch of runaround. I finally thought everything was straight and mailed my check in. One month later they mailed my application and check back requesting more information. I had been driving around with no insurance and didnt know it. Hagerty was a quick phone call and it was a done deal.
I don't have a gararge, just a carport. I insured mine though State Farm on an agreed price, well above blue book.... No mileage limits & full coverage. Of course they insure the rest of my cars also. I have 4 cars & a motorhome though them at a cost of $130 a month.... Not bad....
Hello guys! i got some questions for you. How come Hagerty and Grundy are that cheap? i just did a quote with them on the web: it's arround $200 PER YEAR! Progressive: $400 for 6 month??? What is the deal? Why such a big difference? i'm looking to insure my future 76 mav as a daily driver (will be my only car), so i need comprehensive and collision... plus, i don't have a garage. (live in Nebraska, so might get some hail here, but i'll park it in a public garage on storm days i think) any ideas? thanks!
The quotes you are receiving on-line from Haggerty and Grundy are for collector cars/non daily drivers. Insurance will be higher for a primary vehicle/daily driver. (higher risk)
ok... so i better go for a regular insurance as "Progressive"... i might pay more but at least i'll be covered. thanks for the quick answer!
Yes, because with Haggerty you have to send them the policy on your primary vehicle to show that you do have a daily driver besides the car they are insuring.
I tried to get Haggerty, I liked their roadside assistance plan. They told me they don't insure cars with power adders, I had nitrous at the time. So I went to Grundy. They didn't ask about power adders, and I didn't tell.
I have mine insured through state farm as well, agreed value, also above blue book. they said they would also insure for appraised value if I got it appraised. I do have other cars insured with them , but I dont think its mandatory. With my daily driver and others on policy you get a multi car discount and the rates arent bad. I think the 71 Maverick amounts to $36.00 every 6 months, but everyones area and cost is a little different. see what company and rules work for you. hagerty & grundy are both good as well from what my friends say.Good luck!
