the guy said it came out of a '73 car and tho the sticker on the valve cover doesnt name an actual model year theres a part number printed on it that starts with D3 xxxxxx (1973?) maybe someone who knows more then my tho can tell me about the head and block #'s though
d3 is a 73.There should be a number like that somewhere on the block also. Been a while since I had my 351W.
welcome to the windsor owners club still not 100% sure on year if it says d3 than yes its a 73 pull a valve cover and iirc there should be a number cast on the head like C9OE or something similar
that is almost a must, some have done it w/o cutting but it cant be fun, and header bolts are nearly impossiable with stock towers and spark plugs arnt much more fun
Yeah, check around the starter area, you may have to remove an engine mount to see it. I can't remember exactly... I'd say the "3" in front of that stamped number is a pretty good sign, but the cast in number will be the best indicator. I still can't get over the EGR manifold. Maybe it was required on really big cars back then. I know the biggest cars got emissions items that later filtered down to smaller cars.
i remember you mentioned the EGR in the other thread so i went and took a closer look at it and it too has a D3 part number what does that numer on the back of the block mean anyway?
The number on the back would go with the serial number of the car. I'm pretty sure my 73 302 in my Grabber had a EGR plate on it.
Anybody have an idea of what you would pay (or what's a fair price) for 351w block with caps, crank, flywheel and bored 30 over? Assuming it's a good block and not cracked? Oh, it's a 1979 block. Thanks jamescomet
