    Hey all,
Well, i did something stupid, and overtightened my carburetor the today. Snapped one of the corners right off. I'm sure i'm not the first person to do this. I tried epoxy and JB Weld and neither worked, so now i'm looking for a more permanent solution. I'm not sure what kind of metal this is, but can it be welded? Any other fixes? Or does anyone have a double pumper baseplate in good shape they'd sell me? Thanks!

Yeah, i broke one of the ears off of the baseplate (where the stud comes through). I've seen 'em on ebay, and in the catalogs, but the cheapest i have yet to see them is $100...it would be really nice if i could avoid paying that right now.

I did it too on a brand new Holley, drilled a hole through it and reattached it with a screw (some good epoxy in between too). Worked for years, ended up selling it that way. :)

I figured there's probably some epoxy out there that would work, but i'd be a little afraid of it being too fragile. I'm in a welding class right now, and the instructor said he'd TIG weld it for me, so i think i'm going to go that route. I just wasn't sure if it was aluminum or pot metal or...what...

    Thanks!!

it's cast-aluminum and welds with ease, provided the welder knows what he's doing.
