It does have an electric fan and a 3 core radiator, I've tried the timing at different settings from 2 initial to 10 initial same thing.

Might be worth getting a timing light and setting it that way.

As far as it running hotter as you drive it... how old is the water pump?
I had one idle all day long and at low speeds, but as the RPM went up the impellar was slipping on the shaft and causing it not to flow enough water.

Are you using regular 87 octane gas or 93 octane. These engines were designed to run regular gas back in the day when regular was 91 octane. The lower the octane to hotter the flame. The higher the octane the slower the burn. The higher the timing they run hotter. Do you have a spring in the lower radiator hose to keep it form collapsing when the water pump pulls a vacuum on the hose? I know the new lower hose I bought did not have this spring. A new engine will run hotter because of more fiction.

is that all you have to do is get the fan  so I guess you have one in your comet :hmmm:

    sounds simple enough.
    remove old radiator
    replace radiator
    remove old thermostat
    replace thermostat
go to junkyard, find taurus, pull fan.
put it comet/maverick, wire for variable speed

    yeah, just little bit

I put new water pump matched it up to the old one looked good! three different thermostats, i must say I will check the lower rad. hose never thought of that! What year taraus fan?? do you have to trim it down any or will i have to trim to fit? running 91 octane, Another I don't know if it would make a difference spark plugs, i got autolite 45 platinum gapped tp .045, maybe i just need what they had back then! the radiator was flow checked, they said it was good!

Yup simple enough, a few bolts and few hours, and it's well worth it.

I have had a Taurus\Tempo fan on several different applications, a 66 F-100, my Comet, a Mustang and a... Taurus

I was going to say maybe you have a reverse rotation pump, but if you've had that checked out, then it should be correct.

The spring in the lower radiator hose is a must have in my opinion.

The Taurus/tempo fan I got was from a 90 Tempo and one from a 95 Taurus. Both went on w/ no problems, just used the pull tight things they have designed for this type of application.

Another thing to consider is water pump pulley size... if its too big its spinning the pump too fast... if its too small you get the opposite.I will re-iterate this "head gaskets installed improperly"??? If the engine is fresh and tight... it may run hotter for a few hundred miles till it breakes in.If you have a 3 row aluminum radiator you may have insufficient volume with the stock water pump.

my car runs 190- 195 idle, and 120-130 on the highway.
    aluminium radiator-electric fan.
theres something wrong with your car. its strange that it gets hotter when you move it around. i think its the hoses.
