I just want to say hi to everyone on the site. I am the proud owner of a 1973 Maverick. My intentions are to turn this into a nice street/strip car. So far I have built a 550hp 408 stroker motor, complete with aluminum stage 2 ported Edelbrock performer rpm heads, fully ported performer rpm air-gap intake, forged Eagle crank w/H-beam Rods, 9.9:1 Mahle pistons, and a Comp Cams Hyd. Roller bump stick, measuring in at .576 (294)intake .600 (300)exhaust. Very near future plans include, an Enforcer AOD trans. from Goodfellas transmission, 2200 stall converter(street friendly), 3.73 gears set in an 8.8 mustang rear end narrowed a bit to allow my 13" tires to sit up in my slightly mini-tubbed wheel wells, an 8-point roll bar from S&W race cars, and I will transplant the Pinto front end I robbed from the Junk yard for a large sum of $100. At this stage in the game the car is still at the body shop, after enduring several grueling summers, and several harsh winters in a lovely Kansas field from where I rescued the car for another large sum of $300. I look forward to visiting with whomever is interested in my car, or just wants to chat! Some of the advice on this site has already been helpful to me in my efforts to get this car road worthy. I will try and keep my progress posted and up to date as possible, so that others may possibly benefit from my efforts as well as others who have been in this position. Thanks again!
Thanks for the welcome! I noticed you live in Seattle. I was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA. and my wife and I lived in University Place. I love it up there, I plan on coming to visit some ex military friends for New Years! I will keep in touch, and will try and figure out how to post the pics I have taken?
Welcome to the forum! Sounds like a nice project plan. You should plan on checking out the MCG Gathering and the MCCI Roundup next July in Missouri.
