Odds are that it's a 28 spline. I would suggest against using a spool on the street. I tried it and it was WAY scary!

Some people have used them. I would advise against it though. They can be nasty in the rain.:)

Even if someone is washing their car and you run through the puddle it isn't good.

It's hard to look at how inexpensive these mini-spools are and not think about it though. But if you weigh the cost of what it's going to do to your tires every time you take a turn...it starts to get expensive in the long term.

Seriously, running a spool isn't as bad as some people think. I've been running a spool for 4 years now. I just recently put another set of tires on my car but it's only because I wanted some drag radials for the track. I drive it everywhere I go with them too. I was caught out last weekend at a cruise in and it started pouring down rain. On my way home never once did it feel like I was going to spin or lose any kind of control. Of course I don't drive like an idiot when it's raining either. The tires I am using are M/T ET Streets. I'm not afraid to drive this car anywhere in any kind of weather. Oh yeah, I'm running 4:30 gears too. Just my 2 cents worth. :)

Me too. I have had a spool for about 4 years. Only time it wants to "spin out" is if you floor it during a turn. But just driving through a turn, wet or otherwise, doesn't make it spin out.

Not very hard on the tires. I don's see ANY wear on my BFG T/As after 3 years.

If, on the other hand, you are an aggressive or crazy driver and like to mess around stomping on the gas, a spool may not be the thing for you. That inside tire will grab and throw the rear end around pretty fast making you lose control or do an accidental donut in the middle of an intersection.

I never had a problem with my spool on the street....other than uneven tire wear (not that bid a deal on a hot rod)

I never drove in the rain though.....

I too am a spool veteran mines had a spool in it for ten years. The only time i had an issue was one night it rained the races out and i drove it home in the rain with slicks.

I have driven mine in the rain. Didn't notice anything different.

I only had one "mishap" with my spool. I had it in for just a few weeks, and when leaving from the driveway of my inspection station, a gravel driveway, I hit it pretty hard to show off for the inspection chick who has been watching me build this car since day one and inspects it every year. There was a point where the paved road had started, but there was some scattered gravel and dirt on it on the shoulder. When I gunned it and it hit that area, the tailend came around and I sorta did a "drift" out onto the road. Didn't go into the other lane, but I see how someone who is more of a hotshot than me and not good at correcting a wandering rear end could do it. So, it COULD be dangerous, but like I said, only if you are screwing around, like I was...

Since then, I just drive it casually during all turns and on wet or dirt roads. Even on dry roads, it can lose the tail end if you nail it. Once you recognize that, just respect it and you will be fine.

Now that I think about it, I drove a buddy's Corvette once, and he told me to nail it after I had been granny-ing it around town. So I did a u-turn, and then nailed it before I was completely straight...did the same thing.

So even without a spool, you still need to respect what a powerful car can do and recognize that you are always just a foot-stomping away from losing control of the car.

a mini spool is really streight forward. the only thing that could be "cheap" about it if its not hardened. i havnet seen any mini spools fail from being cheap. give it a try, save your spider gears and if you dont like it then put them back in. the axles will snap before you brake the mini spool. ive never seen a car on the street brake axles with a spool. the comon complaint is that the car doenst want to turn. the stearing wheel will spin back to center really fast and with a lot of force if you let it go in a turn.
