Hey, guys! Does anyone know if any Mavs or Comets ever came with both driver and passenger side rectangular, manual, chrome mirrors? Found a '73 Comet with a set and was wondering if it was a stock set-up. Guy wants $500 for the whole car :thumbs2:. It runs, 2 door, has a straight body, all the trim, 250 i-6, C-4, and 8-inch open with 2.80's. However, the interior's not in the greatest shape (it's all there, though) and all the tires are dry-rotted. I'd buy it, but money's a factor. So I thought I'd try to talk him into parting out just the mirrors.

    Thanks for the input,
    Eric

assuming the metal is solid id say thats a good price

i think you could get a chrome mirror on both side but i dont see it that much. it wouldnt let it be a deal maker or breaker either way though

:hmmm: I am not so sure about that. I have 71' 2 door, 250 i-6, C-4 with manual square chrome mirrors on both sides. I guess i will have to check when i get home to see if one is a square and the other is a rectangle. I am pretty sure they are original and absolutely sure they both have four corners...

A chrome mirror on the passenger side was most likley a dealer or owner add on.

I added 65 stang mirrors. IMO they look better than the rectangle.
With the high back glass I have a huge blind spot and wanted the help.

Did the holes line up with the stock Maverick mirror on the drivers side?

Thanks for the info guys. The mounting of the mirror could have fooled me, though. Same exact mirror as the driver side, in regards to the dimensions, looks, and mounting location (yup, I checked everything before posting this question). The dealer (or, maybe even the guy) did a really good job on it. I just wish he'd agree to part the thing out!

    Thanks again,
    Eric
