    Hey all:

Went this past weekend to the Texas Motor Speedway "Good Guys" show, which I have attended two years now. I gotta say, it is one of the finest shows out there, replete with a swap meet and thousands of originals, customs, modifieds, and hi-poed pre-1972 vehicles out there. The weather was awesome, the show was great, but....

WHY oh WHY weren't there any Mavs or Comets out there? C'mon, guys, that's just like the show this past August at Amon Carter, where there was only one '76 Stallion! For a state as big as Texas, you'd think there'd be a well represented group of examples out there. NOTHING.

Personally, I grow tired of seeing Fords in general (except for the overabundance of Mustangs) poorly represented. No Mavs, No Comets (oh, sorry, a nice original 4 door 1964 in the swap meet area, purred like a kitten for $3k), No Pintos :p, a handful of Torinos, a handful of Thunderbirds....

But DOZENS of Chevelles, Novas, Tri-fives, Monte Carlos, Camaros, Corvettes, etc....nice cars, but like donuts, you eat so many and then you have had enough.

    I just don't get it.

Chris I was there in my Falcon wagon I would love to bring my Maverick but all of mine are 76s and they aren't welcome to new. I only took 1 of my Stallions @ Amon Carter this year. There were 8 Mavericks at the Heart of Texas Mustang show weekend before last.

Limiting the entry to pre-72 means you only have two years of Mavs and one year of Comets ... unless you lie ...... and I would to get my 72 in given the chance.... hey, it was built in Sept 71.

Yeah, I know, the pre-72 thing SUCKS, I can't understand why a show of this caliber would not support cars into the mid-seventies. Ultimately, they are going to have to realize that there is a very interested fan base in 70's vehicles that is growing day by day. After about 1977 - forget about it, hardly anything is really interesting (unless you are a Pinto fan :p, they were made through 1980).

The Good Guys decision on the cut-off date is driven by the market here in Texas they can get 3500-4000 cars with a cutoff of Pre 72 cars in some places thier cutoff is 1948 and they can get a full event in other markets the don't have a cutoff because there just isn't enough cars. I have several post 72 cars that I can't bring here but if they changed their cutoff I still might not be able to bring my car because they could sell out the event.
