Re: 4 speed. When I talked with the author of that article, he was 'pretty sure' that the car was a manual shift car. I would imagine what with a 289 in GT40 spec, it was a 4 spd. to take the power.

I have no info on what color this car was. I did ask him. It could be dark blue, dark green, black, etc. Like Ronald, all of the black GT's that I have seen had argent/silver stripes. I have seen dark green GT's with black stripes, and dark blue as well.

I absolutely love the stance and look of that Shelby Europa GT250. I broke out the "shop" and took a shot at it in Midnight Blue over lunchtime. I think someone should definitely clone this thing PRONTO! She's one bad ride.

PS: Sorry I didn't see some of you guys at Fall Carlisle. I missed not going to the show. My Dad and I had to make a hard decision based on last year and how poorly we did. See you in the Spring!

I have when I was 17. I had a 71 mav and bought a 73 comet gt and cannibalized it. Bolting the taillights wasn't much of an issue, but the rear pan of the comet is flared out into the taillight shrouds, where the maverick is somewhat flat. In my case, I mounted the comet taillights and slapped an ungodly amount of bondo in there to fill the gaps. (I know.....I'd rather not discuss it)

    Good luck

I haven't seen that either. I was hoping Dennis would try it on his '71 GT!
Dennis? Too far along now to put a pop-open gas cap on the side of that Comet?

I don't know if this is a photoshop pic, or if it is real. The red car is the '70/'71 Cyclone that these lights originally came on. For those who don't know, the '71-'77 Comet taillights were borrowed from the base model Montego of '70/'71, the car the Cyclone is based on.

You know. My wife says one Grabber Blue car is enough (my 70 Grabber Mustang) and that I should paint my 71 GT a different color. Maybe this would be a good comprimise. My first Comet was a 71 that was Ivy Green Metallic with Ivy Gold interior. Man was that a sweet combination. I guess I could go Dark Metallic Blue or Ivy Green with it and give it the Shelby Europa GT250 look. - Matt

Seth, that Maverick with Comet tail lights was a pic of Jamie Miles Dad's car that he photoshoped the lights onto. If you compare the Montego /Cyclone to the Maverick. notice the lights on the Montego/Cyclone are just nearly touching, while on the photoshop Mav, they have the same spacing as a stock Comet. If you moved the lights outboard to the edge of the panel, and placed the rest of them just nearly touching, you might have room for the gas cap.....

A red Cyclone is awesome from every angle... <groan>... <pant>...

As for the triple lights on a Comet... ummm... interesting...
