i know i have brought this up before and had this pic on my site for quite some time but since i have always laughed at the Shelby maverick comments i thought i just post this pic of the shelby catalog page. (note: right bottom hand corner... its a shelby catalog) so just wanna raise hell thats all... still intresting though
Shelby Maverick It is my intent to build one. I have spent the past couple of years gathering all the shelby parts possible for this conversions. At this point I could probably restore a shelby mustang. I have bought a fiberglass hood and 67 shelby hood scope to have molded in to it, 67 shelby tail lights and rear panel with sequencial blinker wirirng harness, Dixico hood tach, rear window louvers (like Ray Parrish's), shelby shifter and shifter knob, 9" rear with disk brakes, 351W Shelby intake, top loader 4 speed (wide ratio), early 69 351W block and heads (3 bolt pattern on bottom pulley), clutch pedal set up with V/8 Z bar, bucket seat interior complete. All the shelby badges for the interior and exterior. front chin spoiler, all teh shelby running lights and reverse lightsI have a couple extra rear grabber spoilers and trunk lids complete I just recently purchased a 1970 Maverick, totatly rust and dent free with only 45,000 miles on it as my base to build from. All I need to locate is a roll bar similar to the shelby unit, a set of retracting seat belt harnesses (very pricey $2,000.00 or more on ebay) and a set of Kelsey Hayes Magstar rims 15 x 7 availble in reproduction at $1,600.00 per set of 4. I am just completing some other things I had previously obilgated myself to do before I can start to work on the car itself to do the conversion. Just finished completely remodeling my new house, and a 72 Grabber that I gave to my nephew as his first car (also memeber here bdby62590) need to finish my sons car (he is also a memeber of thsi forum (73 Grabber V/8 Orange and white, orange bucket seat interior) which he will turn 16 this coming Sept. and I want to have his ready for him then. When that is done then it is time for mine. I am dying to get to work on it. Iam actually torn between the 67 shelby hood look and the 68 shelby hood that Rick Book sold to Ray Parrish. Ray if you want to sell it let me know. If the price is right I maybe interested in it if you do not have plans to use it. Sort for rambling on but the Shelby MAverick thing gets me all fired up!! Thanks Allen Small
Hi Allen, Good luck on the project! Can't wait to see it finished. As for the hood, I was just wiping the dust off of it this week. I hope to be able to finish it out and put it on my car for the Silver Springs show coming up in January. I have talked to a local fiberglass guy about making a mold off of it before I paint it. He does a lot of hoods around here and seems to make some really nice stuff. If he does make a mold it won't be any problem to spit one out any time we need one. I'll be talking to him about it more this week. Oh yeah, congrats on finding some louvers. Those things are getting very hard to find. Do you have a color picked out for your car yet?
Ray, I do not want to hijack Maverick Mans post, but I torn between Wimbleton White with Black stripes, or 93 Ford Bihimini Blue with Sliver stripes. Not sure of the stripe layout yet, maybe one big stripe like the super snake with the small stripes on each side being the red. I have had these actual louvers 18 years ago on a Maverick that I had that took 2nd place at the Columbus OH all Ford show back in 1990. Sold the car with the deal if it was ever to be sold I got first shot at buying the car. The car was wrecked and totaled so I bought the whole thing just for the louvers probably 8 years ago. I will not let them go. I did let my nephew run them on his car for a short while, but he has since take them of in fear that he might damage them some how. They are in safe storage till I need them for mine. Sorry Maverick Man, next post I will start a new thread! Thanks Allen Small
Cool story Allen...keep those babies safe. And don't worry about Maverick Man...he's cool. He knows that we all love to do a little hijacking around here every now and then.
You probably just tripped a red flag at the NSA's web monitoring center. Wave for the cameras, boys! lol
