Looks like a really clean install on that too. I'm sure he had to do a few mods to that Holley to run boost through it. I have a few turbos laying around and may play around with that one day.

Another way to turbo charge a carb'ed car without having to mod the carb is to completely incase the whole carb air tight and boost it inside the "carb box". Then the pressure in the carb and all around it is the same. You don't have to worry about brass floats collapsing or seals in the carb blowing out. I have never done it, but it has been done. In theory it will work.

I wonder how much boost that 300 will take. I bet it will take a good amount before it blows to pieces. I also bet it's better to run a smaller fast spooling turbo for lower end power.

That is really cool!!! Amazing what you can do with forced induction. :D

Not trying to start something, but honestly I'm kinda tired of hearing people say that. I ran my 77 for almost 20 years without tower braces (were gone when I got it), and never had any issues. I did finally get a pair, but I hated the brace made to go around the power brake booster, so I never installed them. I did set them in place, and the shock towers had moved in maybe 1/4" in all those years. I have braces on my Grabber, but only because it has manual brakes and the regular braces fit.

It really depends on the loads you place on the front end. The engine helps hold the towers apart but the braces do a better job of it. Let's face it - they are probably not going to collapse but they can flex enough to mess with suspension geometry and engine clearance with V-8s. You can always use hydraulics to put it right and then install the braces, so if you want to run without them it is really no big deal.

Excellent job Eric! I can see that you used top dollar parts. What did you end up using for a fuel pump? I see the Aeromotive regulator, is it the A1000 pump?

That fits in there a lot better then I thought it would. Very cool!

As for the braces, bottom line for me, if Ford thought they were needed, my car is going to have them. With a car like the Maverick, I'm sure they wouldn't have wasted the time and money on them if they didn't think they were absolutely needed.

Different model, not different make. It's still a Ford engine. Lets face it, these cars were meant to be cheap. If the shock tower braces weren't really needed, then they wouldn't have bothered with them from the factory IMO..
