oppps i guess i hadnt been there im sitting in the library at my college and decided to pick up the latest hot rod on the shelf
Yep, my dad sure is a cool guy, here was his first hot rod. 55' Fairlane with a 351C After he sold it he bought his first brand new car, a 1986 Mustang GT. I don't have any pics but after 1 week of ownership the mustang had slicks and a Nitrous kit. There were a few fox bodies after that one, including a tubbed one with a 460, and then a 62' galaxie, followed by a 63'. After those came a 66' fairlane with a 460 and a 429 crank. Then a yellow 55' Ford truck that came with a 350 Chevy and a Nova subframe (the fact that it ran well was the only reason we didn't put a 302 in it), And what he currently has is a 92' stang with TFS heads and a Vortech supercharger.
Your welcome, My dad and my cousin loved that 55' they cruised around in it all the time. Once they were at a light and a guy in a camaro pulled up and asked for a race My dad nodded in acceptence and when the light turned green the hammer dropped and in just a few seconds the 55 was at the next lght and waiting. The guy in the camaro shouted at them "This is my sister's car!" And then my cousin shouted back "That's what they all say!" It inspired him so much that now he owns this red one. I also recently found out that another one of my cousins owned a small bumper Grabber with a 302 that was black with silver stripes and that my late grandmother owned a green 2 door, 6 cyl. Comet.
This is a cool thread...read the article, but never suspected the owner was a member of our board here...
Here is my youngest son's first hotrod. He was 15 when we got it. He built it to the point that he was able to sell it for this: Still has the '57. He has added disc brakes and now the engine is rebuilt and the engine compartment is under full overhaul. He turns 20 in 3 weeks.
my dad bought my maverick, but it wasn't quite the same as that. I was 16 when I got it, so its pretty awesome. I haven't even had it a year and I'm already hooked.
