Just wanted to say hello to all my new Maverick and Comet friends. Wish I could say I still had my '74 Red & White Maverick Grabber, but it has been long gone since 1979. As a matter of fact, I decided recently to try and find out what ever happened to it. Problem I am having is I have absolutely no record of my VIN, been to the Louisiana DMV and they have no records of it and went to my insurance agent and he has no record of it. Kevin Marti can do the research for me and a small fee, but I still need more info for him, such as where it was sold new at. Any suggestions! I sold it in 1979 with almost 100,000 miles on it, so I am reasonably sure it is long gone. I attached a couple pics of it in it "heyday"! David R. Welcome to this good forum, nice looking car, from back in the day. Did you have the CB for the antenna on the truck?
to the forum, good luck in your search ,it might be like trying ti find a needle in a haystack. cheers friend
Thank you all for the hospitality and making me feel welcome! I will be tossing my 2 cents worth occasionally. I will continue to pursue finding my first car, even though I feel 90% sure it has seen it's better days and is probably long gone. I will keep all y'all posted.
WOW! I to had a '74 red Grabber but with black stripes. Owned it from new to 1988. I'd love to have it back but no way. All you can do search for another '74. You can rebuild it to match you orginal car. I got very lucky, I found a white one I can live with. Good luck!
Well, I found one in Forney (Dallas) Texas, that I saw on Craigslists for $850 that was exactly like mine EXCEPT this one had automatic transmission. It got me to thinking, well, I wonder what happened to mine. This past Sunday at church I gave a LA State Trooper friend of mine the last known license plate number of the car and the date I last owned the car. I told him I needed my VIN. He told me he had sources to find this out for me. I am hopeful when I see him this SUnday he will have a VIN fo rme. If he does, then I am back off to the DMV to let them tell me when and where the car was last licensed in Louisiana. Long shot, but I am keeping my fingers crossed. E-mail me and I will share with you pics of the '74 Maverick I found in Dallas for your review, comments, thoughts & opinion! Thx, David
