If your talking stroker, MAKE SURE its a Forged crank. That is if your doing alot hard running. A good combo that is really freindly is the 393. Revs up fast, and lots of good useable torque. This is a good size motor and will do everything you want. Dont fall for the big as you can go syndrome. Ive talked to alot of guys that run them, and they say the same thing. Big isnt always the answer in a combination. 393 is a .030 bore with a 3.8 stroke. With this you are safe with the bore especially. You HAVE to fill the waterjackets at least halfway though, (hard-blok)

If you go ProComp, buy just the castings and get someone good so you KNOW whats going in them. Been stories of people that had problems with ready to run sets. How much are they?
I would seriously look at the AFD Australian made heads, $1,500 bare set, great people and they will bend over backwards to help you. Buy a set of heads and have a freind for life. The Aussies are some of the greatest people Ive met. Always got along great with them, never been there though. They had the Cleaveland longer than we did, 72-85. Thats all they know and mostly run there. I would go that route. JMO.
    Regards.

i have 2 forged steel cranks. 1 used roush 3.42 sroke and 1 new eagle 4 incher.
the roush crank i was going to have the rod jounals cut down to 1.88 and add a litttle more stroke. i already have billit steel lentz rods and the ross 1.120 comp height forged pistons for this. cant remember the stroke from the top of my head but it was 3.6 something and would give me a 368 cid.
the 4 inch requires a 6.2 rod, that and my piston is a little to tall for my 9.2 deck.
im still deciding what i want to do. i could destroke the eagle slightly. i know this is added cost but i got a really good deal so the end cost will be worth it.
the pro comps i have already. they were bare. i paid 750. new, shipped.
i have 4v stainless valves, manley double springs good to .700 lift. titanium retainers stainless 1.8 roller rockers. stud girdles arp rocker and head studs.
i have 99.9 % to build it. i just have to decide and then i can start the machine work.
