Did a search on the above, but no luck. When did this series start and end? Any good sources for the mags, or does someone have the whole article to share? Thanks. Al
That car got me so pumped up about Mavericks, and just as I was getting my learner's permit. The magazine you want is the July 1975 issue of Super Stock and Drag Illustrated. This issue was devoted to detailing the then-new Super Modified class and has a long article showing the tech aspects of their Mav. It really would be worth it to find a copy on eBay. There also is a small one-page update on their sucess with that car in the October 75 issue ... wouldn't bother with that one just for the Mav article, but there is a giant section on Ford racers of the time including Gapp and Roush. There may be other articles in months surrounding these.
just found a picture of the car ... It is on this webpage ... http://www.competitionplus.com/2006_01/supermodified.html (edit ... looking back up I now see it is the same page mentioned above ... LOL ... I did my own search ... really!)
http://www.dragworldusa.com/super.txt this guy lists these mags for sale, and it seems like there was a follow-up article in the November issue.
Thanks Jeff, Found them yesterday. Acidentaly, found a contact to Dave Lyall this morning and talked to him.I keep forgeting theese old vets are in my backyard, DUH? He gave me the skinny on G&R's B/SM maverick's shock tower conversion. He is one SHARP COOKIE! Rattled off specs like he finnished a similar project yesterday. Does anyone have a issue of JULY "75"SS&DI they want to sell? Theese book Dealers are NUTS for what they asking for one. Regards. Al
I own the car in Question: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=39129&highlight=arlen+fadely When I first posted my introduction on the above thread it was about year ago. Since then I've been lurking, and have learned allot form this Forum. Joe
Hi Joe, I was interested in the SS&DI article. I have a 72 and plan on a S/M set-up or 72 vintage pro-stock. It all depends how solid the body is once we get it blasted. Regards. Al
wow that is sweet I've been thinking of a boss 302 for my car my buddy offered me one cheap still thinking of it the only thing that i don't like about it is the lack of good intakes plus ill have to get ride of all my auto stuff brad
As far as intakes…Arlen tried them all. He tried everything from stock to the Bud Moore Mini-Box. The best flowing, and the one he settled on, was the Gapp &Roush single plane spider type.
