thats good news on the roller motor. id get the ford e303 cam then or you can get a a cam from the aftermarket that can be more agressive sence your running a carb. that intake should be ok for 275. does that motor have the e7 heads (stock on 87 to 95 mustang)? if so then the heads offered to you are the same, just a little bit of work done to them. make sure to get the recomended valve springs for the cam you get. roller rockers seem to help a little bit. you get what you pay for in roller rocker so dont cheap out on those. what carb are you going to use? you dont want more than 600 cfm. i personaly am a holey double pumper fan. ive ran lots of diffent carbs on lots of different motors of mine and my friends and allways the double pumper gives the best seat of the pants feel.

i have a holly 750 duel feed carb at least that is what i was told it was it says 3310-2 on the horn then under that it has 3479 i thought about jetting it down so i can use it.
as far as the heads i will have to look at them but i dont believe they are the e7 heads

9C17 just means they were cast on March 17, 19?9. There has to be a casting number on them somewhere.

that carb is a 750 vac secondary. it will work. dont jet it down. that will just lean it out not lessen the air flow. it will probly never fully open the secondarys but its a good carb to get started with.

First lose the 750,get a good 600. Then get a cam, headers, and heads in that order if youre on a budget.

actually you don't need a double pumper, a vacum secondary holly or edelbrock carb will do just as good and probably be alot more streetable.

there in nothing not "streetable" about a double pumper. you will be ok with the carb you have. it is a little big but it will work just fine. if you going to change carbs and you want the most power and best performance get a double pumper. if you want fuel economy then get a vac secondary. you asked what you needed to do for horsepower so im giving horsepower recomendations. I have worked with all kinds of different carbs. my car now has a 600cfm double pumper, the ford f303 cam, stock heads that are ported and have big vavles in them, i have domed pistons, a wieand stealth intake. it dynoed at the motor 321 hp. i get about 13mpg out of the motor. i would suspect that im puting around 275 to the tires.
so going off my experience if you want 275 to the tires with what your working with (the ho heads, performer 289 intake, 750 vac sec carb, e-303 cam, and stock ho short bock) you can expect around 275hp at the motor.
