gas tank float issues

my tank float dosent work at all, and im wondering where i could get a replacement or a different float.

how did you come up with this...how do you know the...float doesn't work?

when i first bought my car it was having alot of trouble with rust in the tank. so it took to get cleaned and the the guy there showed it to me, the end of the float was cracked and chipped

 

Take it out and zip tie a ping pong (table tenis for you yanks) ball to it.
