I can't believe nobody has mentioned "Hot Rod Lincoln", original version by I believe Johnny Bond or the later remake by Commander Cody. Song was written about an actual car.... a 29 Ford model B coupe with a 12 cylinder Lincoln engine! Car was restored a few years ago and was in one of the mags, Street Rodder or Rod and Custom, can't remember which. "My pappy said son you're gonna drive me to drinking if you don't stop driving that Hot Rod Lincoln!" And if you include trucking songs, here's a few.... Wolf creek pass....CW Mccall Widow maker.... Hello, I'm a truck.....Dave Dudley Phantom 309.....Red Sovine Girl on the billboard [wearing nothing but a smile] Red Simpson Six days on the road....Dave Dudley Highway Patrol.......Junior Brown American made.....Leland Martin Stone cold fingers.....Leland Martin Eighteen wheels and a dozen roses....Kathy Mattea And I'll even throw in a bluegrass song for free..... Foggy Mountain Breakdown.....Lester Flatt and Earl Skruggs......not really a car or truck song, but some great banjo pickin!
How about Hot Dog - Led Zeppelin It is not really a car song, and is almost more southern than Lynard Skynard, but it mentions pickup trucks since they came from the U.S. and the song was a true story about a women Plant met in Texas. Ironically Robert Plant owned an old GMC pickup about 10 years before the song was written
"traffic, traffic lookin for my chapstick,LOOK there goes a ford maverick" b-rad gluckman off of malibus most wanted
Hotdog is my favorite Zep song. And my favorite car song is a bluegrass song I wrote titled "Goin down the road with my turn signal on" I sing it all the time, and I am actually quite good. Dan
