Oh, and if anyone doubts this one being ready for the crusher... You haven't seen the HUGE pics he sent me. There is MUCHO damage that doesn't show up well with the pics resized smaller to work on the forum. The pics were so big, I could see the rust under the paint in the drip rails on the first pic!
Dave, Thats why I sent them to you. I did not know they would be that big, but I value your opinion. I will see if I can make contact and see if the other guy interested wants to persue it. If anyone else is interested, it is on Old Louetta Rd. E-Mail me @ ARDmav@aol.com if you need directions. Thanks again Dave. P.S.-I will still try and make contact. I may make a good parts car.
Hey in from Spring TX. I know that car. Its about 5 mins from me. That car has been there for at least 6 yrs. hasnt moved
I live about the same distance away from it. It maybe worth it for parts if the price is right. I would hate to see all of it rot away. PM me. Or e-mail me.
shame, looks pretty solid in the small pics. i'd still try to get a hold of the owner. seems like you could get more use out of it then the current owner
Cars parked on grass tend to rot away real fast from always having moisture (wet ground) under them and also when grass plants decay they give off a slightly corrosive vapor. Over time they will rust out much faster than cars parked outside on gravel or pavement. Hopefully you can salvage something from it.
Unless the underside of the car is toast, I see nothing from what I see to discourage you from looking further into it. I am not sure about Texas cars, but in the Midwest, like Ky. where I spent most of my life, cars that sit in weeds suffer from "ground rot", where the cars rust from the bottom up from moisture buildup. It could very well be the case here. That can be determined by jacking up the car and looking under. If the torque boxes and frame rails are gone, then it would be better as a parts car. Also pour water in the cowl vents below the windshield to see if it leaks inside. Go look and see. It would be a shame to lose another Sprint to the crusher. Jim
Inspiring Thread This thread will keep me fired up to restore my Sprint. Rust repair required in cowl vent, core support, floors (minor), and rear wheel wells. Sat outside for 19 years. Drained out the nastiest coolant I ever saw! Thanks to this Forum I'm fining most of what I need, e.g., fuel tank, radiator and trans cooler lines. Jim in Raleigh
