I have had this car now for a couple weeks its in great condition with no rust and only 40000 miles the car sat for almost 19 years so i put on a new carb, chrome valve cover dress up kit, plugs, wires, and ofcourse new battery and cables... now for the gas tank, car had prol a half tank of gas i thought i had it all flushed out and i put in an inline filter before carb needless to say the car ran great for about 3 miles :bananaman then it died  so yep i had to take the carb apart and clean it out then i dropped the gas tank(yeah i know should of done that in the first place) well the tank is digusting and so is the sending unit and i was wondering if anyone knows if there is sumthing i can clean it out with or where i can get a new sending unit from?

Welcome to the board. I believe Eastwood sells some stuff for cleaning a gas tank. I've never tried it. Might type in what you need in the search feature and see if it's been discussed before.:Welcome:

Take your tank to a radiator shop and have it boiled out. They can probably seal it up as well.

You can get a new fuel sender from Auto Krafters.

i've used the eastwood stuff on motorcycle tanks before, works awesome. cleans, etches, then seals. a car tank could be awkward, definately need an extra pair of hands.

I had the radiator shop fix my gas tank. He boiled it out and fixed two pin holes for $35 bucks.

Remove the sender, put a good solvent and some rocks in it, grab a buddy.

Tumble it length and width wise. Shimmy/shake it on each side. After 10-15 minutes you should be good to go (y)

    Oh, and welcome :) :drive:
