Whats involved in putting in a shift kit, how hard is it, how long does it take, what do you have to do. I have rebuilt a tranny before so i know the basics.

Usually takes about 2 hours max. You just drop the valve body, change a couple springs, block a valve, and that's about it. It's simple if you follow the instructions. The transgo kit is by far the easiest (better instructions than a B&M) and IMO shifts better.

I like the fairbanks shift kits, you can have either a full auto or full manual shifting tranny in a couple of hours, but they cost around 70-75 bucks.

All shift kits can be installed by dropping the pan and valve body.

The instructions come with the kit.
