David Ring, who bought my 72 Maverick. Last weekend he drove a 1 way rent-a-car from Lousiville, OH to Green Bay, WI. He immediately turned around and drove the Mav back to Ohio (approx 600 miles one way).

He also owns a 69.5 and plans to join the IMCC.

    Welcome David!!

    Tom

Yeah Don, that was well worthy of an Iron Man award. How is the old Mav doing? Have you done anything to it yet? Well since we are all telling our stories of our Maverick prompted travels, I will share mine with you all. When I got my Mav, exactly 2 years ago in 10 days, we had to go to Van Nuys, LA to get it. We left at 1:00 Saturday morning, (hauled butt, no stops except for gas and bathroom) got there around 9:00 talked and transferred for an hour, and then we were back on the road. We got home at around 6:00 that night, and it was still light out to check out the new Mav some more. That was a great day. Who says that to go to LA and back from the Bay Area takes two days?! :)

    Thanks Guys!!

Just an FYI. I didn't say anything to Tom, but I mailed out a check and application to Craig last week before I left for my Maverick adventure to Green Bay. It's not easy to buy a Maverick off the Senior Vice President of the club and not join!:D So I would hope to say to Craig in case you have not recd my check . . . it's in the mail.:)

    David-

I got the check....you should receive your items shortly as I mailed them yesterday.

MCCI Members.....Shawn is the VP. I think what David was refering to was Tom's signature on this board forum says "Senior Vice President".

Craig is right. Since retiring from the Marines in '89, I've come close to being a Vice President a couple times, but changed jobs too many times. Figured no one would mind if I appointed myself SVP on this forum.

    Thanks for clearing things up!

I just want say thanks to Craig for the explaination on how I jumped to the conclusion about Tom. When I first seen the post I was pretty embarrassed. I guess you could say I added 2+2 and came up with 5 instead of 4. I will just blame it on all the excitement and lack of sleep from the trip.:D

Thanks to everyone for the understanding and having a good sense of humor!

hi corbin, how's things going? i've been really busy and haven't had too much spare time. i've been getting the dually ready for my trip to fallon, nevada next tuesday. oil and filter change, all the other filters, check the plugs, trans filter and fluid. belts not that old so i bought a set of spare belts and hoses to carry with me. all the tires are new so they should all be ok. however we did get insurance on the 73 last monday so i drove it to work today then went to the dmv and got az. plates for it. gonna change the oil and filter tomorrow. wife is wanting to drive it to work after that. it sure drives nice. you mentioned, i think that it blew some smoke out but i sure can't see any. run's pretty good. see you later.:)
