I sold a kid a 9 inch for his 72 Comet ....it has an 8 inch now ....Does it require a new drive shaft ???? Or can he use the stocker ???? I never had this issue .....so I had to ask ... Dont want to sell something he cant use since it took him a month to get the money !!! Thanks
The yoke It looks the same and the u-joint even fits the yolk out of a stocker in my yard !!! Try it and see I guess !!!
9 inch rears used at least 2 different u-joint sizes. Sounds like you have the same size as the 8". However if it does take a different u-joint, all you have to do is get a hybrid joint. They are sold right at Advance or whatever corner parts house you have in your area. 2 bearings will fit into the Maverick driveshaft yoke, and the other 2 will be the size that fits the 9" yoke. Common part. So no matter what, no problem. Driveshaft length won't be affected.
