I know that this is not a real good reason for posting a new thread but yesterday i had to go to Wally-mart to get some pictures developed and i thought hey the roads are bone dry and the only ice on the roads are those little rock hard bits stuck to the road so i sezs to myself,----- self ,why don't you take the ol' Comet out for the trip to Wally-mart. So i start the ol' girl up and off i go. After i got my pictures i put gas in to fill her up to the top as i don't like to park the Comet with a quarter full tank all winter and i figure it can't hurt as by the time spring rolls around Lord only knows how much gas will cost. On my way back home i'm really in the mood to do some low n' slow cruisin' so i start driving around the side streets where i live, i crank up the tunes (a bit of Zeppelin) and look at the Christmas lights, damn was i feeling good. The heat was pumpin', the music was great and i was happy. It's really amazing how a car i have owned for 15 years can make me feel so good just by going for a cruise to see some lights knowing that in a few days they will be gone till next year. After i got home and parked the old Comrick it started to snow like no tomorrow and when i looked outside later i could not believe that i was lucky enough to go for one last cruise in 2008. Man do i love my old Comet, it's a little piece of econo-box heaven. Happy New Year to each and everyone of you. Be safe......party: Comrick317
Boy I know how you feel I can't even describe the feeling just taking the old girl around the block now and then to keep the battery up, It just feels good to be the person in town to own something other than an SUV or a generic 4 door sedan. Or even another Mustang. And coming on this site just increases that feeling.
I understand how you feel, although I can drive all year long, I have two mavs and I keep saying I'm going to use the 74 for parts to finish the 71. Then I drive it........... Happy New Year, comrick317 Ken
Like a true maverick and Comet owner, just drive it. Right on man. You I would be out with you, but need to get some bugs worked out with carb. Hey, Happy New Year to everyone, and don't let the doom and gloom that they report on the news get you down.
I actually had the opportunity to Take Comet ( that's what my 4 year old calls her) out for a drive Friday , I also put $20 worth in the tank at $1.45 per gallon, that after noon THe wife and I left to go out, and they had raised gas to $1.59! Anyway, this year I have vowed to save every dime I can and get my 6 rebuilt, so we'll see how long it takes! It was a great Weekend!
