I have been meaning to post this for a while. I have read several posts related to cowl replacement, and the hard work it takes to do it.

I saw this in a mustang catalog several years ago, and thought if someone could modify or recreate one in Plexi-Glas for the maverick, it would save a lot of expensive repair in the future.

Isn't that where the AC/Heater gets it's air flow?

Wouldn't necessarily work 100% because the wipers also feed water into the cowl...as well as a few holes along the bottom of the windshield (I think). But it should help.

Almost all of the water that runs down the windshield ends up in the cowl.

I live in the Augusta, Ga area, and where I park my Maverick there are lots of pine trees. I have been looking for something like this for a Maverick for a long time, I am not very concerned about it keeping water out of the cowl, (I am lucky and have no rust damage whatsoever in this area), but it would do wonders at keeping pinestraw and leaves out of there. The real killer for the cowl/torquebox area is not the water getting in there, but rather debris getting in there and trapping the water which then causes rust. I have to go out to the car at least twice a week and pick pine neddles out of it to keep it clear, a device such as this would prevent this unpleasant chore (I guess a Garage would do that as weel). A buddie of mine had one for his daily driver 66 Mustang, and it worked great, and only took about a second to take it on or off.

I made one out of magnet flexable sheet rubber. Like the kind they use to make refridgerator magnets. I made a cardboard template that matched the cowl and then just cut out the shape with a x-acto knife. I've even road tested it at 80 mpg and it stayed on the car. It might not keep 100% of the water out but it keeps out the pine needles and leaves. I had a picture of it once but I can't seam to find it. Russ
