Too bad that isn't the one they decided to mass produce, I like this ones body much better.

Interesting how the styles are more and more affected by the past

says something for the designers of the 50's and 60's who didnt rely on computers to do the work for them

The one they are producing looks more like the 65-66 fastback, not as aggressive as this one.

    That is...

..the one they are producing. The hardtop comes out first, the conv. later.
They did eliminate the full length, ala Shelby/Cougar taillights and went back to a knockoff of the tribar lights.

Other than that, it looks just like the '67/'68 looking body in this pic based on a chasis design borrowed from the Lincoln LS.

Saw it at the National Automobile Dealer Association show in Vegas in late January early February. They had a red coupe on display. It looks great! I'm trying to figure out how to buy one when it's released, but don't think my boss will accept it as my new company car......GM guys just have no taste!

Littlered, Not meaning to argue with you but I don't know what pics you've been looking at of the new stang but the car in the top of this thread looks as much like the one they are going to build as the 67-68 fastback looks like the 65-66 fastback. Look in the latest stang mags and they are showing the car that they are going to build and it is the one of the 65-66 fastback vein.

How cool would it be if Ford did the same retro thing and brought the Maverick back? I bet it would be a hit!!! Go with the 1971-72 Grabber body and put a Lightning motor under the hood. I am getting too excited, I better stop now!!!!
