It's time Here is mine. Been going through a pretty extensive facelift this winter. Pretty much everything has been "touched". I am down to a few more things to finish up and it will be ready for summer cruise-in.
John, Looking pretty good. Is it going to be street driveable? I just sent my money in for the MGC dues and am planning to make the gathering this year. Are you still interested in my 250 motor or C4 trans? Later, Lee "THE MAV" Richart
Yes, it is/will be completely street "legal" you still got that motor/tranny I don't need it, the car it was going in is gone Look forward to seeing you and Connie again, its been too long
That is the Stallion asleep in its sleeping bag. And the other pic is my 77 in which I cutout, fabbed up, and welded in the area underneath the battery tray today. Then I will install one of Joes fantastic battery trays. . First time I have been in the garage for some time. I am back among the living!!!! Dan PS John,, your car looks nice!!
thanks Dan...notice my lack of a hood prop I like how you bagged the stallion......I have thought about doing that to my car. I keep it under a cover, but if I bag it like yours, it would cause a lot of work for me cause for some reason everyday I have to pull the cover back and peak........guess I need to make sure its still there
Mine is up on wheel skates right now, so technically, right now, mine is faster than Pinky. I think Dennis would give me a run for the money though .... his is a lot lighter than mine at the moment.
Ah, who needs jack stands. Looking to have it back on the road again in time for our fall Dixie Maverick Meet. Or the Christmas meet at the latest. Have to finish up my 2.3 swap, then I have an engine and tranny swap to do in my grandpa's '89 Grand Marquis, so I'll probably get back on this thing full blast around the middle of May or June. Of course, I still might just turn it into a trailer.
Jamie, I knew big bumpers were heavy, but that is ridiculous! Food for thought ... with that car this far along, I was reading on another board that Aerostars have some kind of front suspension that can be adapted to earlier cars. I haven't looked really hard at one since reading that. They made it sound like all that would have to be fabbed up would be the upper mounts, and that the whole lower is somewhat modular (lower A-arms, rack-and-pinion, and perhaps engine mounts) as one big assembly. I wish I could remember where I read that ... none of it verified, so take that for what it is... EDIT ... did a quick search and found a few discussions out there ... http://www.fordtruckfanatics.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-7366.html and there were others. Main objections to it seem to be the angle of the the r-n-p is too vertical (its from a van ...) and that the components aren't really pretty. But, it does drop out as one large bolt-in affair ...
so mine has the heads off and the trans is disconnected, still sitting on tires though. I think the race is to have it back together, right? im shooting for april?
