The Maverick wagon is not a Ford production model. They were conversions done in Brazil to a 4 door. Thats one of the reasons I didnt persue the one I was after a year ago.

I can see it now. A grabber or Squire wagon. V8, 4 spd and surf boards out the back.

Since it was a conversion - perhaps it would be easier to have someone cut the back off a junker and ship it to the US to be welded onto a US 4-door ...

Personelly, I always liked Ranchwagons, thats a 2 door wagon for all you young guys. If I was to make a Maverick wagon, thats what I'd make.

    Missing my old '70 Maverick
    Re: Cool!

    It clearly reads,

"In the beginning of years 70, the Ford of Brazil, that had incorporated the Willys recently, possuía in the segment of average cars? standard family? but obsolete the Aero and the small Corcel, that did not obtain to make front to the market competitors. The joined solution was to try to use to advantage some existing project already, so that the costs were low, and between the found options, the ecolhidos ones were the Ford Taunus, mounted in Germany and the Ford Maverick, manufactured in U.S.A.. Some clinics of opinion with consuming potentials had been carried through, having been winning the Taunus model. However, one perceived that the planned engine to equip the new car, the Willys of 6 cylinders did not fit in the compartment. To aggravate the situation, the plant of engines of the FORD in the city of Taubaté/SP alone would be ready in 1975. Of this form, the option was to change the chosen car and the Maverick was defined as the option to be the new Brazilian Ford. Launched in May of 1973, under the enthusiastic slogan?A Ford formula against the routine, the Maverick estreou in the market with known the motor Willys of 6 cylinders beyond desired the motor V8, that generated wait of up to 12 months for esportivo model GT. A external factor was determinative in the trajectory of the Maverick, the world-wide crisis of oil, that significantly raised the prices of fuels and generating until the scarcity of the product. This event made with that vendas of great vehicles, weighed and with high fuel consumption left to have interest in the consumer. In 1975, with the inauguration of the plant of engines, the version equipped with the new engine of 4 cylinders is launched, that promised consumption more brando and thus, could offer plus a motorization option, extending the line of vehicles and the options to the consumers. The versions of finishing offered initially were the STD (standard), the SL (super luxury) and the GT (gran tourism), this last one, representing the esportivo vehicle. Beyond the options of engines, also the options of carrocerias existed, that could be Cupê (2 doors) or Sedan (4 doors); except for the GT, that always was Cupê. In 1977, with vendas low, the Ford promoted a series of changes, modifying standards of finishing and aesthetic details, in such a way external how much internal. Version LDO appeared (luxurious optional decoration), that possuía innumerable itens of mechanical comfort and finishing, as automatic exchange, hot air, hydraulical direction and motor V8. External, the changes in this year had been new gratings, emblems frontals, different frisos and a new set of back, bigger lanterns and with three divisions. Model GT received new padronagem from decorative bands and the false ones air inlet in the hood. In April of 1979, more not supporting the fall in vendas and with the launching of the Ford Corcel II that it had public-target the same, the Maverick left line, after to have been manufactured 108,106 vehicles in all the versions and models. You are invited now, to cover these pages of FORD MAVERICK."
