Well after looking for a couple months I finally bought my son his(and my) first maverick. He turns 16 next month, his friends all have mid 80's camaros and he wanted no part of that dime a dozen scene. What do you all think, I think my boy has GREAT TASTE in cars!!!
We actually just got back with it, drove 3 hours each way to buy it so no pics yet, will have some soon I'm sure. It's a 77 with a 200 straight 6 but hes already talking bout swappin that for a 302. I'll have to hire that out tho, daddy aint no mechanic, lol. Not crazy about those big bumpers but they'll have to do for now. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone on here, you are my kind of people!!!
Just wanted to chime in and say its an experince you and he will never forget! My boy is 16 in oct and we have been workin on this Mav for several months now. Its really gave us something in common as he enters his impressionable years. I cant beleive how much he is into the labor part. He makes alot of mistakes but it hasent been anything that couldnt be fixed! And the neatest part is I get to share this, and he's going to have a really cool car. Hope he lets me drive it someday!! Have fun!! Mitch (Tanner) from Iowa
Congratulations on the new car. might want to keep the big bumpers for a while as they are really a lot safer, if something happens, then the smaller ones.
Good point Don! Never thought of it that way,,, young battle scars do happen. Good job neighboring Buckeye! Lots of good moments to be had with your son! Might be a good time to just tear into an have the bonding of stuffing engine in with your boy! Great time to eat cold pizza with greasy hands! Good Luck
congrats......if you'll was closer I would gladly help with the V8 swap! Enjoy the time you and your son spend on this car.
Well I've got the picture of his car set as my background on my computer but I can't figure out how to get that pic on this site, be patient with me folks, not only am I not a mechanic but I'm no computer genius either. sorry
Thanks Mavman, that means alot. Mom went along and had her say in the buy, I'm glad she has good taste too. Her first car was a 77 thunderbird, (if only that car could talk)
if you have photo bucket(photobucket.com) you can upload the files from your computer and just copy and paste the img code. Its realy easy. Once you do it one time you will never forget. And photobucket.com is free.
