The engine is a .040" over 200; stock piston. The crank and rods are stock. The pan is stock with a custom built windage tray. I run Royal Purple synthetic oil. We use a Lunati cam designed for Stock Eliminator with stock lift. The rockers are stock Ford adjustable from an earllier model year and the pushrods are Comp Cam 5/16" dia with .080" wall. Exhaust is handled through a Hooker production header. Ignition is Ford Duraspark, MSD 6al, Crane PS92 coil, Moroso wires. The carb is stock 1bbl with modified needle & seat and jet. The fuel is pushed by a Holley "Blue" pump. Trans is a C4 with reverse manual valve body, 4000 stall BTE converter and a TCI 2.74 low gear planetary. The rear end is an 8" with 5.43 gears and a mini spool. Royal Purple fluids are used in the trans and rearend. Shifting is controlled by a Turbo Action Cheetah shifter. There are no traction aids. Front shocks are Comp Engineering 3-way adjustables set at 60/40; the rears are stock KYB. Brakes are stock at the moment but over the winter a Strange disc set-up will be installed up front. The wheels are American Racing Track Stars with Moroso DS2 fronts and Hoosier 28" x 8" slicks. Mods to the chassis are frame connectors and a 6 point rollbar. The car weighs 2740 lb with me aboard. Probably left something out but that's the basic package.
Thanks Stefan....you just need to do a small edit to the title of the photo in the gallery - change Comet to Maverick
Thanks to everyone for their interest and comments. It's fun to run this car. It's slow but attracts lots of attention and most people who talk to me in the pits remember that their parents drove a Maverick when they were kids. I'm determined to get a 14 sec timeslip before the 6 is replaced by a crate motor
this is so cool can we get some pics under the hood to show to my big block chevy friends that dog me for my 302 ford. ha ya we show them!!
I shot a few angles for viewing....if anyone would like more detail or explanation, I would be happy to oblige
Grapesodamav70 Thank You all for the warm welcome. Yes, I do have some pics, but I'll have to take some more with a digital camera, so I can down load them to show you all me progress. I will get them to ya'll as soon as possible. I know ya'll are just dying to see a new hot rod. Now about my guestions, I have not read about any one running a ford 9 inch with 411 gears. I am building a 1987 5.0 rollermotor, in front of a C4 trany. That should get me down the track pretty good. Any tips ya'll can let me in on this set up would be put to very good use. Horsepower is mainly what I'm looking for. I will get into smaller details later.
Got lots of guys running 9" rears but not sure who all has 4:11's. Running 4:30's in mine with a 347 stroker and a toploader. Is your car purple? Look forward to seeing pics soon.
I had 4.11's in mine with a 9 inch. 28" tire, went through the traps around 6,800 on the 1/4 mile. Precision gear and Auburn mini-spool.
