I haven't been here for a while (since a VERY brief visit in 2006). Man this place has changed. Still recognize many of the old names who lent me much info when I was putting my 74 Maverick together back in '01, only to have to sell her when I moved to Florida in 2003. Place looks as friendly as it was back then, only more crowded (not a bad thing at all). Hopefully, I'll be getting another Maverick here shortly, or maybe a Comet (have a line on both). Sad part about it is my 1995 Thunderbird had to die a horrible death for this to occur (amazing what a 2500HD series Chevy truck traveling 40 mph can do to a car sitting still at a red light). Hope to soon have a good reason to become a regular here again. Later, Brian
Thanks for the warm welcome back. Who am I? Well, prior to the 'new' board being implemented by Stephan, and shortly thereafter, I was the Maverickist known '74Mav' (has not gone un-noticed someone else has that name now ). When I had to sell my Maverick in late '03 due to my move to Florida, I requested a name change to, well, my name... At any rate, it's good to have a good reason to visit. For some reason just never felt right after I sold her... As for faring better than my 'Bird, we'll see how that goes after ~8 weeks of physical therapy, etc... But, at least I'm still here and I thank God, and the Ford engineers who designed that car for that everyday. The crumple zones, air bags, everything worked as it was designed
Yes, she certainly did take a hit. Several actually. Without getting into the details, I was bounced around like a pinball, between the truck that hit me and the Kia mini-van in front of me. I was pushed out of my lane and into the turn lane of the intersection I was at, about 20-30 or so feet closer than I had started (you can tell I live on a dirt road , I started out just on the other side of the sheriff's car).
I think we can fix that, step 1 take the radiator cap off, step 2 move thunderbird, step 3 put new thunderbird in it's place, step 4 put cap on, tada fixed. welcome back
