ummm... so a tempo a maverick and a mustang walk in to a bar..... 9 months later, this hits the pavement. wow is that ugly, but i bet it would have done good as a raly car.

well in my opinion that is a alright car. i would buy one... sad to say it looks better than the granada. heck all it would need is a little time in the front end. maybe the mustang or carpi nose. i give it an A for effort and a B for styling. :yup:

I think it would,ve been a seller. I like the front end myself. Door handles are neat, except i'd have them in black. I like the square HL's and the grille. Those changes and a good set of wheels. :)

My uncle has a mustang with those wheels... yes wheels, not hubcaps.
I was amazed they made those as wheels. lol

As for the grille, doesnt look f-150ish to me, looks like an escort as already mentioned

I kinda like it. I thought that the hide-away wipers were on Fords that year but not so (after a google search).

One thing is, I don't think that color would have been offered - more than likely, it's bigger seller would have a red exterior with porno red interior with a gob of fake mahogany on the dash and door trim.

Not a far-off concept and a pretty good job of photo-shopping tho.

I think it looks like a Tempo.
Which would be appropriate because a Tempo is a Maverick!
The 1978 Maverick was redesigned, but they changed the name to Fairmont.
Then when that was redesigned, they called it a Tempo... Then Contour, then...
    Well, you get the picture!

Mustang is the only Ford name that has ever really stuck uninterupted.
Even the Fairlane became Torino, became Elite, became LTD II, became Taurus, became 500, became Taurus....;)

Let's say that I like this a lot better than I like Tempos ... (y)

Still like mine better than either though. Thanks for posting it.

I don't knock Tempos too hard...
because they really are Maverick bloodline... J/K

I did buy a 93 Tempo new back then, and it had the V6.
    That thing would scream!
I'd love to see one with an SHO engine or supercharger a-la Supercoupe T-Bird.

We can say this and that about it now, but if it had been produced, I'd just about bet we would have liked it back then. It has the 80's look, so it would have blended in with the other cars of the time. It would have been just another upgraded car at the time....

That would have been neat if Ford had done that. Nissan did it with the early 90s Sentra (B13). VW has done the same with the last generation golf MK IV. Both models have minor upgrades.
