Anyone know how to test the fuel sending unit to tell wether its the gauge or the sending unit itself? My fuel guage is not reading I dont want to drop the tank if theres a chance its the guage.

take the wire off the sending unit at the tank and let it just hang in space. turn on the the key and see where the needle is, then ground out the wire and see if the needle move to the other side of the gage. if it move the gage is good and the sending unit is bad. if it doesnt move then usually the voltage regulator in the dash is usually bad.

Ok, I did what you said. With wire unhooked from sending unit and power on, I grounded out the wire and got nothing. I did this in several places up to the dash, to check if I had a break in the wire. I still got nothing. There is a tiny silver box mounted on the back of the instrument cluster 1 wire go's in and 2 wires comes out, 1 of the 2 wires coming out go's to the non working gas guage. The other go's to the non working oil guage. Is this little silver box the voltage regulator? and if so the 1 wire going into the box should be hot right? :hmmm:
    Thanks, for your help.
Here are some picts of the dash, you can see the tiny box on right side of pict. (in the middle picture)

Thats your IVR (instrument voltage regulator) replace it and see if that takes care of your issue.
