You'll find that with Mavericks, Rarity is not necessarily an indication of value.
Plus the part he is talking about, is not in the gauge cluster, it's a separate indicator that is mounted in the steel dash, closer to the passenger side of the car.

Oh I didint catch that. Well not really trying to sell it, just wondering what it would be worth. This is the first I see. I know about maverick parts there only worth what you are willing to pay and sometimes not even worth it.

I don't think that fasten seat belt light is really rare either. I find them in the junkyards all the time, they were in a TON of different Fords and Mercury's in the 70's. I've got about 10 of them.

My 70 has the "Fasten Seat Belts" light in the cluster but there wasn't a lamp/socket in that position from the factory. I installed a lamp so that it would come on when I armed the nitrous system. :D

Are you guys talking about that loud obnoxious light and buzzer that comes on as soon as you put the car in gear without your seat belt?:hmmm: I'd be willing to give mine away! :biglaugh: I know it has a purpose but when your working on your car it can get annoying!

Why would anyone consider this part rare?
The same light was used on several models of FoMoCo cars around that time.
You can take this part from another Ford/Lincoln/Merc and put it right into another.
They came with black or chrome bezels depending on the model and trim level.

The fact that the same part was used in Stangs/Cougars leads me to think the part may even be repopped. If it isn't yet, it will be just for this fact.

Actually, something interesting I noticed... a couple of years ago I was doing some work on the dash of my (now former) bosses '76 CJ7 Jeep. Those Jeeps have the EXACT same type of lights in the dash as the fasten seatbelt light in a Maverick, they look totally identical other the the writing on the face, and they light up blue. They are just used as dash lights so that you can tell what knobs are what at night in the Jeeps.

Here is a random pic I came across on Google just now. Look at parts 4a through 4f.

If the lens is good on yours, buy the Jeep part and swap the fasten seat belt lens into it. Or just get the LIGHTS one and wire it up to your high beams?

edit: matter of fact, I like that last idea so much, I just bought one, should have it in 5-7 business days.. So we'll know for sure if it will fit from a Jeep.

Doesn't surprise me. Jeep and AMC used to buy all kinds of parts from the Big Three to piece together their vehicles.

    Side note on the buzzer...
I hate them, I disconnect them, but on later model vehicles this buzzer is tied into the lights and keyswitch.

Therefore if you disconnect the buzzer so you don't have to hear it complain about the door being open or seatbelt use... you also don't have warning that you left the lights on or you are about to lock your keys in the car. It's a double edged sword.:(
